ANNUAL REPORT 2008 & NOTICE OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Johnson Matthey Plc has today posted to its shareholders the following
documents:

  * Annual Report for the year ended 31 March 2008   
  * Notice of Annual General Meeting to be held on Tuesday 22 July 2008 at 11am   
  * Form of Proxy
   
These documents have also been submitted to the UK Listing Authority and will
shortly be available for inspection at the UK Listing Authority's Document
Viewing Facility which is situated at the Financial Services Authority, 25 The
North Colonnade, Canary Wharf, London E14 5HS.

The Annual Report 2008 and Notice of Annual General Meeting are available on
the Company's website at www.matthey.com/investors2004/index.htm

The Notice of Annual General Meeting includes a resolution to adopt new
Articles of Association. Copies of the proposed new Articles of Association
have been submitted to the UK Listing Authority and will shortly be available
for inspection at the Document Viewing Facility. Copies are also available
for inspection at the Company's registered office (40-42 Hatton Garden, London
EC1N 8EE) during normal business hours and at the Annual General Meeting from
10am until the close of the meeting.
