The Company was advised on 14 May 2002 that Mrs MEW Reid, the wife of a
Director of the Company, purchased on 8 May 2002, 351 ordinary shares of 10p
each (representing 0.0% of the issued class of capital) at a price of 283p
each. The shares were purchased pursuant to a regular standing order, through
the Majedie share plan.

Mr Reid is now deemed to have a disclosable interest in 9,043 shares,
representing 0.02% of the issued share capital.
