The Company has been advised that Mrs MEW Reid, the wife of a Director of the
Company, purchased on 8 January 2003, 524 ordinary shares of 10p each
(representing 0.0% of the issued class of capital) at a price of 190p each. The
shares were purchased pursuant to a regular standing order, through the Majedie
share plan.

Mr Reid is now deemed to have a disclosable interest in 13,002 shares,
representing 0.02% of the issued share capital.
