The Company has been advised that Mrs MEW Reid, the wife of a Director of the
Company, purchased on 4 February 2004, 456 ordinary shares of 10p each
(representing 0.0% of the issued class of capital) at a price of 226p each. The
shares were purchased through a dividend reinvestment.

Mr Reid is now deemed to have a disclosable interest in 20,190 shares,
representing 0.04% of the issued share capital.

The Company was also advised that Mrs CM Clarke, the wife of a Director of the
Company, acquired on 4 February 2004, 107 ordinary shares of 10p each
(representing 0.0% of the issued class of capital) at a price of 226.0p each.
The shares were purchased through a dividend reinvestment.

Mr Clarke is now deemed to have a disclosable interest in 14,564 shares,
representing 0.03% of the issued share capital.
