The Company has been advised that on 16 July 2004 Capco Trust Corporation
Limited, the Trustee of the Majedie Investments PLC Incentive Trust, purchased
47,922 ordinary 10p shares in the Company (representing 0.091% of the Company's
issued ordinary share capital). The shares were purchased at a price of £2.20
per share.

As a result of this transaction, the Majedie Investments PLC Incentive Trust
now holds 409,331 ordinary 10p shares (representing 0.78% of the Company's
issued ordinary share capital).
