New Senior Independent Director

APPOINTMENT OF NEW SENIOR INDEPENDENT DIRECTOR

With immediate effect, Kenneth Hydon has succeeded George Greener as the
nominated Senior Independent Director of Reckitt Benckiser plc (the 'Company')
in accordance with Provision A.3.3 of the Combined Code on Corporate Governance
(the 'Code') published in July 2003. The appointment reflects the fact that
George Greener is now considered to be non-independent in accordance with
Provision A.3.1 of the Code, having served as a Director of the Company for
more than nine years. He will continue to serve on the Board as a
non-independent Non-Executive Director.

Kenneth Hydon was appointed a Non-Executive Director of the Company in December
2003 and is a member of the Audit Committee. He is Financial Director of
Vodafone plc and a non-executive director of Tesco plc.
