RM secures agreement to provide schools management software to second
jurisdiction in Australia
RM plc, the UK's leading supplier of ICT software, systems and services to
education establishments, has extended its position in Australia with a major
$2.2m agreement to supply school management systems to the Northern Territory
Department Employment Education and Training (DEET).
Under a four-year agreement with DEET, RM will provide pupil administration,
finance and timetabling software to all Territory schools in the jurisdiction.
RM will also provide its Centris SQL database system, which will be used by
DEET in data driven decision-making.
Murray Bates, Director of Information Technology Services for the Northern
Territory's Department Employment Education and Training commented,
'The RM solution was chosen because of its ability to deliver an end-to-end
solution to the Territory from School to Centre. Indigenous issues are of great
importance to the Department and we are pleased to be working with RM to
provide what will be an efficient student tracking system in a jurisdiction
with a significant indigenous school population'
Tim Pearson, Chief Executive of RM, commented,
'This is the next stage of our strategy of expanding our school management
presence in Australia. We are now the leading provider of these products across
Australia, and it's good to see our leading edge software products making
further progress.'

Notes to editors
The award of the contract for the Northern Territory is in addition to an
earlier agreement secured three months ago to supply Curriculum Planning and
Management Software to the Territory. The securing of these orders follows on
from an earlier $7m contract awarded to RM in 1999 for the provision of student
administration software to all state schools in Western Australia. In the
intervening period, RM Australasia has also been extending the penetration of
its Curriculum Planning and Management software to South Australia and
Queensland with a view to significant future growth in the next 12 to 24
months.
The four-year agreement with the Northern Territory, which comprises software
products, first line support and maintenance, will be handled by the Group's
wholly-owned subsidiary, RM Australasia Pty. RM will also be providing training
and ancillary services in addition to the main contract over the four year
period.
