Re Agreement

13 May 2005 ROLLS-ROYCE AND TOTAL SIGN OFFSHORE ENGINE MAINTENANCE DEAL Rolls-Royce and TOTAL E & P UK plc* have signed a multi-million dollar contract for the technical support of key equipment in service on offshore platforms operated by TOTAL. TOTAL E & P UK plc has awarded Rolls-Royce an extension to an existing contract covering its Avon and RB211 gas turbines installed on the Alwyn North and Elgin gas production platforms in the North Sea. The Long Term Service Agreement (LTSA) contract is the second significant such contract secured by the Rolls-Royce energy business in recent weeks. It follows the recent signing of an £11.2 million agreement with Metragaz, operator of the Maghreb pipeline supplying Spain and Portugal with natural gas from Algeria via Morocco. The five Avon units in the Alwyn Field undertake power generation and gas compression duties and have been in service since the 1980s. The new LTSA, which runs for just over six years, is an extension to a similar contract signed in 1991. It includes both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance including availability guarantees, and will manage and control the operator's maintenance budget while helping to maximise productivity of the Alwyn Field. The original contract covers the seven Rolls-Royce RB211 gas turbines installed on the Elgin platform in the 1990s, providing a range of power generation and gas compression services. Tom Curley, President of the Rolls-Royce energy business, said: "Long Term Service Agreements bring valuable benefits to owners and operators of Rolls-Royce equipment, ensuring maximum availability and efficiency across the full range of offshore and onshore operating environments." *TOTAL Exploration and Production UK For more information, please contact: Gary Hyman Head of Communications - Energy Business Rolls-Royce Tel: 00 1 740 393 8888 Email: gary.hyman@rolls-royce.com Web www.rolls-royce.com END
