ROLLS-ROYCE WINS $560 MILLION ORDER FROM
LUFTHANSA AND SWISS
Rolls-Royce, the global power systems company, has won an order worth $560m, at
list prices, for Trent 700 engines to power eight Lufthansa and SWISS Airbus
A330 aircraft. The order includes a TotalCare® long-term service agreement. The
aircraft will enter service from 2012.
Mark King, Rolls-Royce President - Civil Aerospace, said: "We are delighted
that Lufthansa and SWISS continue to put their trust in our leading-edge Trent
technology. The competitive TotalCare® support package we are able to offer
will enable our customers to derive additional operational and performance
benefits."
Nico Buchholz, Executive Vice President Lufthansa Group Fleet Management, said:
"Both airlines have had a good experience of the Trent 700's exceptional
reliability and performance as well as the ability of TotalCare® to provide
support which allows us to continually improve our efficiency."
The Trent 700 is the only engine specifically designed for the Airbus A330 and
over 1,000 are now in service or on firm order. The engine remains the market
leader for the aircraft, capturing 75 per cent of orders over the last three
years. The engine offers outstanding levels of performance while delivering the
highest available thrust.

2. As a result of this strategy, Rolls-Royce today has a broad customer base
comprising more than 600 airlines, 4,000 corporate and utility aircraft and
helicopter operators, 160 armed forces, more than 2,000 marine customers,
including 70 navies, and energy customers in nearly 120 countries, with an
installed base of 54,000 gas turbines.

two thirds of which had the objective of further improving the environmental
aspects of its products, in particular the reduction of emissions.
5. Annual underlying revenues were £10.1 billion in 2009, of which about half
came from services revenues. The firm and announced order book stood at
£58.4 billion at 30 June 2010, providing visibility of future levels of activity.
6. The relationship between Rolls-Royce and Lufthansa dates back more than
80 years to the days of the Rolls-Royce Eagle engine. Currently Lufthansa has
more than 150 engines powering aircraft in its fleet. The N3 Engine Overhaul
Services joint venture between Rolls-Royce and Lufthansa Technik continues this
successful partnership. Opened in 2007 in Arnstadt, Germany, it services
Rolls-Royce Trent engines that power the Airbus A330, A340 and A380 aircraft.
