ROLLS-ROYCE SIGNS TRENT 800 TOTALCARE AGREEMENT
WITH SINGAPORE AIRLINES
Rolls-Royce has signed a long-term TotalCare services agreement with Singapore
Airlines covering the Trent 800 engines which power its fleet of 58 Boeing
777s.
This new agreement is in addition to a current TotalCare contract for the
airline's fleet of five Trent 500-powered Airbus A340-500s.
The package enables Singapore Airlines to hand over full responsibility for
management of the engine fleet at an agreed dollar rate per flying hour.
Mike Terrett, President - Civil Aerospace at Rolls-Royce, said: "This decision
is a further extension of the strong relationship between our two companies.
Singapore Airlines is a valued customer and the application of a tailored
TotalCare services solution to its Trent 800 fleet will enhance the efficiency
of their operation. As the equipment manufacturer, we can deliver a reliable
and cost-effective service based on a joint understanding of the customer's
operation and our engines. "
TotalCare agreements, tailored for individual operators, offer a range of
services extending to aspects of support such as latest predictive maintenance,
asset and logistics management, as well as repair and overhaul. TotalCare
offers the opportunity to remove uncertainties from engine management and
provides airlines with greater financial confidence from managing predictable
costs.
Meanwhile, at a special ceremony in Singapore today, Singapore Aero Engine
Services Limited (SAESL), in which Rolls-Royce is a shareholder, celebrated
five years of operation, during which time a total of 500 Trent engines have
been overhauled.
