ROLLS-ROYCE WINS $140M ORDERS FOR ENERGY AND DEFENCE
Rolls-Royce, the world-leading power systems and services company for
aerospace, marine and energy markets, today announced orders worth a total of
$140 million from Brazil and the United States for its energy and defence
businesses.
In Brazil, Rolls-Royce is to supply Petrobras with seven power generation
packages valued at $80 million for offshore service. With this announcement,
Rolls-Royce has now received orders for a total of 19 gas turbine generator
sets for Petrobras offshore projects over the past three and a half years.
In the United States, Rolls-Royce has been awarded a $60 million follow-on
Power By The Hour ® contract by the US Department of Defense (DoD), Naval Air
Systems Command (NAVAIR) at NATC Patuxent River for the F405-RR-401 (Adour)
engines that power the US Navy's T-45 training aircraft.
This logistic support contract is a follow-on option contract for the F405
(Adour) engine, with three option years remaining, and was developed in line
with commercial Power By The Hour agreements.
The new Brazilian orders include seven RB211 genset packages, for the Marlim
Sul (P-51) Floating Production Unit (FPU), and for a fixed repumping platform
(PRA-1). P-51 is part of Petrobras' development of the Marlim Sul field,
located off the coast of Rio de Janeiro in the Campos Basin, Brazil's most
abundant oil production area, accounting for over 80 per cent of the country's
total oil output.
