Severn Trent Plc announces today that Martin Houston has stepped down as a
non-executive director of Severn Trent Plc and Severn Trent Water Limited with
effect from 23 January 2009 after five years.

Sir John Egan, Chairman of Severn Trent Plc, said:

"We are extremely grateful to Martin for his contributions to the Severn Trent
Boards since his appointment in 2003 and we wish him all the best for the
future."

Severn Trent will now search for a replacement for Mr Houston and will make a
further announcement in due course.
