SouthernEra Appoints New CEO Shares Issued and Outstanding: 112,279,101 TSX: SDM AIM: SRE TORONTO and LONDON, UK, Sept. 12 /CNW/ - The Board of Directors of SouthernEra is pleased to announce that it has appointed Mr. Alasdair MacPhee as President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. MacPhee has been acting as interim President and CEO since July 20, 2005. Dr. Chris Jennings, Chairman and founder of SouthernEra, said "I am delighted that we have been able to fill this position from within the Company. Alasdair provides the leadership and experience required to establish SouthernEra as a dominant, fully integrated diamond resource company." Alasdair MacPhee, most recently Executive Vice President Africa, joined SouthernEra in 1997 as a Project Manager to oversee the development and construction of Klipspringer Diamond Mining Project, including the Marsfontein kimberlite pipe, in South Africa. He holds a B.Sc. (Hons.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Strathclyde University, Glasgow, Scotland and an MBA from the Edinburgh Business School. Mr. MacPhee has 25 years of diamond operating experience, including 17 years of continuous service within the De Beers group of companies. SouthernEra Diamonds is Canada's largest fully integrated diamond company with extensive diamond exploration in six countries including Canada, Australia, Gabon, the DRC, Zimbabwe and South Africa. This represents the fourth most active global diamond exploration program after the majors DeBeers, BHPB and Rio Tinto.
