Further to the appointment of Mr. John Warren as Non-Executive Director (as
announced earlier today), Spectris plc confirms that there is no information
which requires disclosure under paragraphs 9.6.13 (2) to (6) of the Listing
Rules.

In relation to paragraph 9.6.13 (1) of the Listing Rules, Spectris plc hereby
discloses that Mr. Warren is currently a director of The Rank Group Plc, Arla
Foods UK plc and Bovis Homes Group Plc. Within the past 5 years, he was also a
director of WH Smith PLC, Rexam plc and RAC plc.

Mr. Warren held 3,000 5p Ordinary Shares in Spectris plc at the date of his
appointment.
