Notification of Transactions of Directors

Spectris plc ("the Company") was today informed of the following transactions:

On 18th April 2007, Mr Stephen Harris, Business Group Director of the Company,
purchased 800 shares in the Company at a price of 917.95p. Mr Harris' total
beneficial holding following this transaction has increased to 4,800 shares
(0.004% of issued class).

On 19th April 2007, Mr Harris exercised 80,000 options (0.064% of issued
class). The options were exercised at a price of 920.2944p and the resulting
shares were disposed. There are 120,000 shares remaining under option.
