Notification of Transactions of Directors

Spectris plc ("the Company") was today informed of the following transaction:

On 19th March 2007, Mr John Poulter, Chairman of the Company, exercised 99,783
options (0.08% of issued class), granted while he was Chief Executive and prior
to his appointment in 2001 as Chairman of the Company. The options were
exercised at a price of 846.628p and the resulting shares were disposed. Mr
Poulter's total beneficial holding following this transaction has remained at
142,687 shares (0.114% of issued class) and there are no shares remaining under
option.
