                            RESIGNATION OF DIRECTOR                            

Spectris plc announces that Mr. Stephen Harris, Business Group Director, has
provided notice of his intention to resign from the group in order to pursue a
new career direction and accordingly it has been agreed that he will retire
from the Board with effect from 31st January 2008. John O'Higgins, Chief
Executive, said "I should like to thank Stephen for his contribution to
Spectris over the past 4½ years and to wish him continued success in the
future".
