                          Transfer of Treasury Shares                          

Spectris plc announces that on 13 August 2007, the following ordinary shares
have been transferred from treasury stock for the purposes of employee share
scheme allotments:

415 shares at 408 pence per share

145 shares at 618 pence per share

Following the above transfer, the total number of Spectris plc ordinary shares
in issue (excluding the total of 4,675,172 ordinary shares now held in
treasury) is 120,329,951.
