                          Transfer of Treasury Shares                          

Spectris plc announces that on 19 April 2010, the following ordinary shares
were transferred from treasury stock for the purposes of employee share option
allotments under the Spectris 1996 Executive Share Plan, the 1999 Executive
Share Option Scheme and the Spectris Performance Share Plan:

5,356 shares at 589 pence per share (1996 scheme)

1,644 shares at 589 pence per shares (1999 scheme)

1,429 shares at 5 pence per share (PSP)

Following the above transfer, the total number of Spectris plc ordinary shares
in issue (excluding the total of 9,214,969 ordinary shares now held in
treasury) is 115,790,154.
