                          Transfer of Treasury Shares                          


Spectris plc announces that on 27th February 2012, the following ordinary
shares were transferred from treasury stock for the purposes of employee share
option allotments under the Spectris Performance Share Plan and the Spectris
Savings Related Share Option Scheme:


2,700 shares at 5 pence per share (PSP)


1,003 shares at 765.5 per share (SAYE)


Following the above transfer, the total number of Spectris plc ordinary shares
in issue (excluding the total of 8,623,541 ordinary shares now held in
treasury) is 116,381,582.
