Unimo delivers first TETRA handsets to customers
The Directors of Software Radio Technology plc ("SRT" or the "Company") are
pleased to announce that Unimo Technology Co. Ltd ("Unimo") has made its first
commercial delivery of TETRA handsets to customers in South Korea.
The Unimo TETRA handset has been developed and manufactured in Korea and is
based upon SRT's core TETRA technology solution. During the last 12 months, the
handset has undergone extensive live network trials and received various formal
approvals such as EU Type Approval, and network interoperability certification
from Teltronic and EADS.
To date Unimo is the only Korean company to have developed and manufactured its
own TETRA handset. Their understanding of, and proximity to, the local market
has enabled them to develop a suitably customised handset and to provide a high
level of service to users through a nationwide network of offices.
Having commenced initial deliveries, SRT understands that Unimo is actively
engaged in tendering and negotiating a number of contracts both within Korea
and other international markets, which have the potential to generate
substantial future orders.
Simon Tucker, Group Managing Director of SRT said: "TETRA is a complex
technology which few have mastered, therefore the delivery of the first
handsets into customer hands is an important milestone for Unimo. As their long
term technology solution provider, we are delighted that their product has been
received so well by the market and will continue to work with them to improve
and expand their TETRA product range in the future."
