Appointment of Director

The Board of Temple Bar Investment Trust Plc announces the appointment of Mr
Martin Riley to the Board, with effect from 20 September 2004. He is Chairman
of SR Europe Investment Trust PLC and CAEC Howard (Holdings) Limited and a
director of Bonfield Asset Management Limited and a number of private
investment companies. He is a former director of Henderson Crosthwaite Limited
and Barlows PLC.

It is confirmed that there are no matters requiring disclosure under paragraphs
6F2(b) to (g) of the Listing Rules. Mr Riley has been a director of the
following publicly quoted companies in the past five years.
