United Utilities appoints Non-Executive Director
United Utilities Group PLC announces the appointment of Stephen A. Carter CBE
(Lord Carter) as a non-executive director with effect from 1 September 2014. On
appointment Stephen will become a member of the Audit, Nomination and Corporate
Responsibility Committees.
Stephen is the Group Chief Executive at Informa plc, having previously served
on the board as an independent non-executive director and member of the Audit
Committee.
Before taking up his current post, he was President/Managing Director, Europe,
Middle East & Africa and a member of the Executive Management Board at Alcatel
Lucent Inc. Prior to that he held a number of Private and Public Sector roles,
serving a term as the founding Chief Executive of Ofcom (The Telecommunications
and Media Regulator).
United Utilities' Chairman, Dr John McAdam said: "As a current Chief Executive
of a FTSE 250 company and with his background in government and regulation,
Stephen's appointment will strengthen the Board's expertise; we are delighted
to welcome him to the Board as a non-executive director."
Stephen will also be appointed as a non-executive director of United Utilities
Water PLC with effect from 1 September 2014.
There are no further details to disclose under paragraph 9.6.13 (2) to (6) of
the Listing Rules in relation to Stephen A. Carter.
In accordance with Listing Rule 9.6.11(3), with effect from 1 September 2014,
Mark Clare, senior independent director, will become a member of the
Remuneration Committee and will step down from the Audit Committee.
