                     Appointment of Non-Executive Director                     

Wincanton plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Stewart Oades as an
Independent Non-Executive Director of the Company effective from 1st November
2014. Mr Oades will also be appointed as a member of the Company's audit,
nomination and remuneration committees.

Mr Oades is currently a Non-Executive Director of Palmer & Harvey and a
Non-Executive Director of MW Brands. He has also held the position of President
of the Freight Transport Association from 2009 to 2013.

Mr Oades was a Non-Executive of Clipper Group plc from 2009 to 2011. Prior to
then he was Chief Executive of Christian Salvesen plc, a post he held from 2005
until 2008. Previously Mr Oades held a number of senior posts at Exel plc from
1996 to 2005.

Mr Oades does not currently hold any Wincanton plc shares and no further
information in connection with his appointment is required to be disclosed
pursuant to Listing Rule 9.6.13R.

as well as a comprehensive knowledge of the retail environment in the UK which
