WINCANTON PLC ("Wincanton" or the "Company")

APPOINTMENT OF NEIL ENGLAND, NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The Company is pleased to announce that Neil England joined the Wincanton Board
as a non-executive Director and a member of the Audit and Remuneration
Committees with effect from 3 June 2008.

Neil is currently a non-executive director of ITE Group plc, The Eastern
European Trust PLC and Silverstone Holdings Limited. Neil was previously a
Director of Gallaher Group plc and prior to that Vice President of Mars Inc.

David Malpas, Chairman of Wincanton said: "The Board is delighted with Neil's
appointment. His broad business knowledge, notably in Central/Eastern Europe,
will be extremely useful as Wincanton continues to develop as a European leader
in supply chain management."

There are no further disclosures pursuant to paragraphs 9.6.13(1) to 9.6.13(6)
of the Listing Rules.
