Allister Langlands to become Wood Group Chief Executive January 2007      

The Board of John Wood Group PLC ("Wood Group") announces today that Allister
Langlands will become the Group Chief Executive as from 1 January 2007.
Allister has been with the Group for fifteen years, initially as Group Finance
Director and then as Deputy Chief Executive for the last seven years. Sir Ian
Wood, currently Chairman and Group Chief Executive, will continue in the
Chairman's role.

Sir Ian Wood said, "I am delighted the Board has confirmed the appointment of
Allister as the Chief Executive. He clearly has the ability, knowledge and
experience to lead an excellent management team to greater and better things.
My role now will be to help ensure Allister and his team have all the necessary
support to continue the successful development of the Company, and to maintain
the Board's full engagement in the key strategic issues and direction. I will
also continue to support my senior management colleagues in developing our
market presence and trade relationships around the world".

Allister Langlands, said, "I am very excited to be taking on this challenging
role in January. Sir Ian will not be an easy act to follow, but I know I have
his full support, as well as that of my Executive and Non-Executive Board
colleagues. During my 15 years with the Group, we have made enormous progress
