Wood Group signs a 16-year, $88 million Term Maintenance Agreement (TMA) for
two 7FA+e combustion turbines with the New York Power Authority
17 July 2007 - Wood Group Gas Turbine Services, a division of international
energy services company John Wood Group PLC ("Wood Group"), has signed a Term
Maintenance Agreement (TMA) with the New York Power Authority (NYPA) to provide
parts, repairs, field services and risk management for the two GE Frame 7FA+e
gas turbines at NYPA's 500 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant, located in Astoria,
Queens, New York. This contract marks the first TMA between Wood Group and NYPA
and further demonstrates Wood Group's capability to provide superior services
for advanced technology gas turbines.
The contract was a direct result of a collaborative effort between Wood Group
and NYPA and was tailored to meet the Power Authority's needs. By providing the
full range of services and showing a willingness to be creative with a
flexible, customer-centric contractual structure, WG was able to provide a
complete and highly competitive solution for NYPA.
"We awarded this contract to Wood Group after an extensive screening process
that included using the company to provide services during key outages this
year," John Hoff, NYPA's Vice President of Procurement and Real Estate, stated.
"Based on their ability to get the job done safely, ahead of schedule and in a
flexible manner, we chose to enter this long-term arrangement. We look forward
to many years of partnering with Wood Group."
Mitch Robinson, President of Wood Group Integrated Plant Solutions, commented,
"This contract exemplifies Wood Group's continuing commitment to provide
world-class services to advanced technology, F-Class turbine owners like NYPA
and illustrates the flexibility that Wood Group brings to the marketplace. This
award brings the number of F-class advanced gas turbines under Wood Group
operational or maintenance management to twenty-four. We look forward to
providing NYPA the same high-quality service we have for other F-class turbine
owners."
