Wood Group GTS awarded EPC contract
Wood Group GTS awarded $152 million EPC contract for conversion of GWF Energy facility
HOUSTON, October 11, 2010 - Wood Group GTS has received an engineering,
procurement and construction (EPC) contract, valued at approximately $152
million, from GWF Energy LLC (GWF) to construct and commission the conversion
of the Tracy Peaker Plant in Tracy, California.
GWF is converting the Tracy Peaker Project to a combined cycle facility in
support of a new power purchase agreement with Pacific Gas & Electric Company.
The project will convert the existing facility, which consists of two General
Electric Frame 7EA gas turbine generators, to combined cycle operation through
the turnkey design and installation of two heat recovery steam generators and a
single steam turbine generator, an air cooled condenser, and related balance of
plant equipment. Upon completion, the converted 336 megawatt Tracy Combined
Cycle Plant will offer additional highly efficient and flexible electric
generating capacity for PG&E and its customers.
Mark Papworth, CEO, Wood Group GTS, said, "We are very pleased to have been
chosen as the EPC contractor for the GWF Tracy project. We are proud to have
GWF as a long-standing Wood Group GTS customer in California, and this
important project builds on that strong relationship."
