3i Group PLC

Application is being made to the UK Listing Authority and The London Stock
Exchange for the listing and admission to trading of 209,892 shares of 50p each
in the capital of 3i Group plc.  The shares have been allotted at a price of
£13.744 per share, subject to their admission to the Official List and trading
on The London Stock Exchange becoming effective.

The allotment has been made in connection with the acquisition of the remaining
19.8% of the 'A' shares of Strategic European Technologies N.V., as referred to
in an announcement made on 3 February 2000 concerning the acquisition of TH
Technologieholding GmbH and 80.2% of the 'A' shares of Strategic European
Technologies N.V.
