3i Group plc announces that application has been made to the London Stock
Exchange and UK Listing Authority for admission to the Official List of a
blocklisting of 3,000,000 ordinary shares of 62 69/88p each.

These shares, which rank pari passu with the existing ordinary shares in issue,
will be allotted from time to time in accordance with the 3i Group 1994
Executive Share Option Plan and the 3i Group Discretionary Share Plan.
