Press release 5 October 2001
4imprint Group Plc - Update on current trading
As referred to in the interim statement, published on 18th September 2001, it
was at that stage too early to assess the impact of the tragic events of 11th
September on our businesses.
Although market conditions remain difficult to predict, the Group is now in a
better position to provide an update on the outlook.
Political and economic uncertainty has had a significant effect upon the
confidence of our customers, many of whom are involved in the travel and
leisure sectors. The cancellation or postponement of exhibitions and sales
conventions is also having a short-term impact on our business.
Based on the current situation, the Board believes that profits before tax for
the year ended 31st December 2001, may be as low as half of the underlying
profits in 2000.
Despite the uncertain short-term prospects, the Group continues to make good
progress in signing new corporate programmes and the Board continues to be
confident about the medium term prospects for the business.
