ABB agrees to buy U.K. engineering consultancy
Builds ABB's automation presence in chemicals, petrochemicals and
pharmaceuticals markets.
Zurich, Switzerland, January 30, 2001 - ABB has agreed to buy Eutech Engineering
Solutions Ltd, the international engineering consultancy subsidiary of ICI Group
of the U.K. Financial details were not disclosed.
Eutech supplies a range of consulting services in manufacturing operations and
engineering, including project implementation and management, to more than 150
chemicals, petrochemicals and pharmaceuticals customers worldwide. The business,
headquartered in Daresbury, U.K. employs some 550 people and reported revenues
in 2000 of about US$ 80 million.
Jorgen Centerman, ABB's President and CEO, said the acquisition 'boosts our
know-how and our market strength as a supplier of automation solutions to the
chemicals, petrochemicals and pharmaceuticals industries. With Eutech's expert
knowledge of these industries, ABB will be much better able to deliver our range
of Industrial IT products and systems that integrate all of a customer;s
business processes - from supply and production planning through order
processing and delivery - into a single real-time enterprise management system.'
