Kornevall, 54, as group senior vice president, will report directly to ABB president and CEO Jorgen Centerman. Centerman says: 'As we continue to implement our strategy of becoming a more customer-centric organization, increasing our sustainability performance is absolutely vital. Customers want socially responsible suppliers and environmentally sound products.' Kornevall has represented the WWF in the EU expert group on sustainability and competitiveness in Europe and has had special responsibility for developing business and industry relations with WWF. He has a broad and international experience, working for the United Nations International Drug Control Program and the International Committee of the Red Cross, among others. Kornevall studied at the Swedish Institute of Social Studies and graduated from Stockholm University, where he focused on economics, business administration and statistics. He is a Swedish citizen and is married with two children. He speaks English, Swedish, French and Spanish. Kornevall succeeds Jan Stromblad, 66, who is retiring after a long and fruitful career with ABB. Stromblad led ABB's environmental and sustainable development efforts since 1993, having previously worked in a number of line positions for the company for more than 40 years. ABB has for the past two years been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Group Index as the leader of its category.
