Application has been made to the UK Listing Authority and the London Stock
Exchange for a total of 1,000,000 ordinary shares of 10 pence each in Standard
Life plc ('the Company') to trade on the London Stock Exchange and to be
admitted to the Official List upon issuance.

These shares are being reserved under a block listing and will be issued as a
result of further allotments of shares to satisfy demutualisation entitlements.

When issued, these shares will rank equally with the existing ordinary shares of
the Company.
