Board Changes

The Board of Standard Life plc ('the Company') announces that Noel Harwerth has been appointed as a non-executive director of the Company with effect from 20 July 2012.

Commenting on her appointment Gerry Grimstone, Chairman of the Company said:

"I am very pleased that Noel Harwerth has agreed to join our Board.  She will bring a strong contribution to the Board's discussions with her experience of risk management and financial services".

At the same time as she joins the Board, Noel will be appointed as a member and chairman of the Risk and Capital Committee and a member of the Audit Committee.

Following these changes, the Board of Standard Life plc will comprise three executive directors, eight non-executive directors and the Chairman.  The Board will be made up of four women and eight men.  Regulatory approval for Noel Harwerth's appointment has been obtained and no other information is required to be disclosed pursuant to paragraph LR 9.6.13R of the Listing Rules of the Financial Services Authority.

Director's Fee
Noel Harwerth's fee as a non-executive director of the Company will be £70,000 per annum.  As chair of the Risk and Capital Committee, she will receive an additional fee of £25,000.
