Board Changes
The Board of Standard Life plc ('the Company') announces that Martin Pike has been appointed as a non-executive director of the Company with effect from 27 September 2013.
Commenting on his appointment Gerry Grimstone, Chairman of the Company said:
"I am very pleased that Martin Pike has agreed to join our Board. With his actuarial and strategic consultancy background, he will bring deep technical knowledge and a strong practical understanding of the drivers of success in the various markets in which we operate".
At the same time as he joins the Board, Martin will be appointed as a member of the Risk and Capital Committee and the Investment Committee.
Following these changes, the Board of Standard Life plc will comprise two executive directors, eight non-executive directors and the Chairman. Regulatory approval for Martin Pike's appointment has been obtained and no other information is required to be disclosed pursuant to paragraph LR 9.6.13R of the Listing Rules of the Financial Conduct Authority.

In recent years Towers Watson has, on occasions, provided limited consultancy support to Standard Life Assurance Limited. When considering Martin's appointment, the Board concluded that this relationship did not impact Martin's independence. |
