Board and Committee movements

Standard Life plc ('the Company') announces that, subject to his re-election at the Company's Annual General Meeting ('AGM') on 17 May 2016, Kevin Parry will succeed Crawford Gillies as Senior Independent Director.  As previously announced, Crawford Gillies will retire from the Board at the conclusion of the AGM, having completed nine years' service.

Kevin was appointed to the Board in October 2014.  He will continue to serve as the Chairman of the Audit Committee.

The Company also announces that, subject to her election at the AGM, Melanie Gee, currently a member of the Remuneration Committee, will succeed Lynne Peacock as Chairman of the Remuneration Committee at the conclusion of the AGM.  Lynne Peacock will remain on the Board and she has been appointed as a non-executive Director and Chairman of Standard Life Assurance Limited, the Company's UK and Europe Pensions and Savings subsidiary.

Regulatory approvals have been obtained for these appointments and no further details remain to be disclosed as required under Listing Rule 9.6.13.

Kevin Parry

Kevin is Senior Independent Director and Chairman designate of Intermediate Capital Group plc, a non-executive Director of the Daily Mail and General Trust plc and Chairman of the Homes and Communities Agency.  He is a former Chief Financial Officer of Schroders.

Melanie Gee

Melanie Gee was appointed to the Board of the Company in November 2015.  She is a senior adviser at Lazard and a non-executive Director of The Weir Group PLC.  She was previously a non-executive Director at Drax Group plc.

Lynne Peacock

Lynne Peacock was appointed to the Board of the Company in April 2012.  She is a non-executive Director of Scottish Water and the Nationwide Building Society and was previously Chief Executive Officer UK, for Clydesdale Bank and Yorkshire Bank.
