Board change

The Board of Standard Life Aberdeen plc ('SLA') announces that Cathleen Raffaeli will be appointed as a Non-Executive Director with effect from 1 August 2018.

Commenting on her appointment, Sir Gerry Grimstone, Chairman of SLA, said:

"I am delighted that Cathi has agreed to join our Board.  Her strong FinTech experience and background in the platforms sector, as well as her board experience, make her an ideal addition as we continue to build a world class investment company".

At the same time as she joins the Board, Cathleen Raffaeli will be appointed as a member of the Remuneration Committee.

Following this appointment, the Board will comprise four executive directors, nine non-executive directors and the Chairman.  The Board will be made up of three women and eleven men.  The restructuring of the Board after the merger in 2017 will continue over the coming months.  The Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority have been notified of this appointment.  Cathleen Raffaeli's other appointments are listed below and no other information is required to be disclosed pursuant to paragraph LR 9.6.13R of the Listing Rules of the Financial Conduct Authority.

The Board also notes the announcement this morning by the Board of Phoenix Group Holdings ('PGH') of the proposed appointment of Barry O'Dwyer and Campbell Fleming as Non-Executive Directors of PGH.  These appointments will be effective from the date of completion of the acquisition by Phoenix Group of SLA's UK and European insurance business and are being made pursuant to nomination by SLA in accordance with the terms of its contractual arrangements with PGH.

Barry O'Dwyer is the CEO of SLA's Pensions & Savings business (Standard Life).  Barry has held several senior roles at Standard Life since re-joining the company in 2013, and during his initial spell at Standard Life between 1988-2008.  A fellow of the Institute of Actuaries, Barry has 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, in a career which has also included senior roles at Prudential and HBOS.

Campbell Fleming is the Global Head of Distribution at Aberdeen Standard Investments, the asset management business of SLA.  He joined Aberdeen Asset Management in August 2016 from Columbia Threadneedle Investments where he was the Chief Executive - EMEA and Global COO.  Campbell is the Chair of the Investment Association Trade Committee and previously held senior positions at JP Morgan Asset Management.
