ABERDEEN ASIAN SMALLER COMPANIES INVESTMENT TRUST PLC (the "Company")

ISSUE OF EQUITY

The Company has today sold from treasury 25,000 Ordinary shares of 25p each for cash at a price of 864.0 pence per share. The new shares rank pari passu with the existing Ordinary shares. 

Following this issue, the Company's issued Ordinary share capital consists of 35,720,210 Ordinary shares and 1,426,290 Treasury shares. Accordingly, the total number of voting rights in the Company is 35,720,210 and this figure may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in the Company, under the Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
