AMENDMENT

The stock exchange announcement released at 17:17 hrs on 15 July 2016 (RNS No: 3830E) noted a purchase of 25,000 Ordinary Shares.  The announcement should have read a purchase of 13,500 Ordinary Shares.  Please see below the updated announcement.  All other information remains unchanged.

ABERDEEN ASIAN SMALLER COMPANIES INVESTMENT TRUST PLC ("the Company")

PURCHASE OF OWN ORDINARY SHARES

On 15 July 2016, the Company purchased in the market 13,500 Ordinary shares at 905 pence per share. These shares will be held in treasury.

Following the transaction, the Company's share capital comprises:

35,928,834 Issued Ordinary shares (excluding treasury shares)

3,248,624 Ordinary shares held in treasury

39,177,458 Issued Ordinary shares (including treasury shares)

The total number of Ordinary shares with voting rights in the Company is 35,928,834 and this figure may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in, the Company under the Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
