ABERDEEN ASIAN SMALLER COMPANIES INVESTMENT TRUST PLC - SHARE BUY-BACK

On 10 August 2009, Aberdeen Asian Smaller Companies Investment Trust PLC purchased in the market, 55,000 ordinary shares at 296.273 pence per share. These shares will be held in treasury. Following the transaction, the Company's share capital will comprise:

31,140,986 Issued Ordinary shares (excluding treasury shares) 

1,739,221 Ordinary shares held in treasury

32,880,207 Issued Ordinary shares (including treasury shares)
