ABERDEEN ASIAN SMALLER COMPANIES INVESTMENT TRUST PLC -

SHARE BUY-BACK

On 17 October 2008, Aberdeen Asian Smaller Companies Investment Trust PLC purchased in the market, 66,500 ordinary shares at 207.41 pence per share. These shares will be held in treasury. Following the transaction, the Company's share capital will comprise:

31,084,508 Issued Ordinary shares (excluding treasury shares) 

1,566,636 Ordinary shares held in treasury

32,651,144 Issued Ordinary shares (including treasury shares)
