ABERDEEN ASIAN SMALLER COMPANIES INVESTMENT TRUST PLC - SHARE BUY-BACK

On 4 July 2008, Aberdeen Asian Smaller Companies Investment Trust PLC purchased in the market, 20,830 ordinary shares at 271.24 pence per share. These shares will be held in treasury. Following the transaction, the Company's share capital will comprise:

31,680,645 Issued Ordinary shares (excluding treasury shares) 

970,499 Ordinary shares held in treasury

32,651,144 Issued Ordinary shares (including treasury shares)
