Aberdeen Asset Management PLC announces in conformity with the Transparency
Directive's transitional provision 6 we would like to notify the market of the
following:



Aberdeen Asian Smaller Companies Investment Trust PLC consists of 32,579,597
ordinary 25p shares with voting rights.  Aberdeen Asian Smaller holds nil
ordinary shares in Treasury.

Therefore, the total number of voting rights in Aberdeen Asian Smaller is
32,579,597.

The above figure (32,579,597) may be used by shareholders as the denominator for
the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify
their interest in, or a change to their interest in, Aberdeen Asian Smaller
under the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
