Standard Life Equity Income Trust PLC (the 'Company')
Directorate Changes and Change of Name of Company

Further to the Company's Annual Report for the year ended 30 September 2005 and
the Company's recent Annual General Meeting, the Company confirms that Mr Tony
Mitchard retired as Chairman and Director of the Company with effect from 20
December 2005.
Mr Mitchard is succeeded as Chairman by Mr Charles Wood, who is currently a
Director of the Company. The Board would like to thank Mr Mitchard for his
substantial contribution to the Company since 1995.
The Company further announces the retirement from the Board of Mr Simon McClean,
with effect from 20 December 2005. The Board would like to thank Mr McClean for
his over 14 years' service to the Company since its inception in 1991.
Following the passing of a Special Resolution at the Company's Annual General
Meeting, the Company confirms that its name was changed to Standard Life Equity
Income Trust PLC with effect from 22 December 2005.
