STANDARD LIFE EQUITY INCOME TRUST PLC

ISSUE OF EQUITY

The Board of Standard Life Equity Income Trust plc ("the Company") announces that the Company has today issued 150,000 new ordinary shares of 25 pence each, which rank pari passu with the existing ordinary shares in issue.

The 150,000 new Ordinary shares of 25 pence each were issued for cash at a price of 453.25 pence per Ordinary share under its Ordinary share block listing facility.

Following this issue of shares, the total number of Ordinary shares in issue is 43,176,691 with each Ordinary share holding one voting right.  Therefore, the total number of voting rights in the Company is 43,176,691 and this figure may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in the Company, under the Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
