ABERDEEN STANDARD EQUITY INCOME TRUST PLC

("the Company")

TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

The Company announces that on 4 September 2019 it purchased 46,011 of its own 25p Ordinary Shares at an average price of 360.032 pence per share. These shares will be held in treasury.

Following the transaction, the Company's issued ordinary share capital is 49,116,771 Ordinary Shares of 25p each (excluding treasury shares).  The number of Ordinary Shares of 25p held in treasury is 61,996.

The total number of voting rights in the Company is 49,116,771 and this figure may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in the Company, under the Disclosure, Guidance and Transparency Rules.
