STANDARD LIFE EQUITY INCOME TRUST PLC - SHARE BUY-BACK INTO TREASURY



On 16 February 2007 Standard Life Equity Income Trust PLC purchased 877,328 of
its own 25p ordinary shares at 334 pence per share.  These ordinary shares will
be held in treasury.



Following the transaction, the Company's issued ordinary share capital is
37,960,579 ordinary shares of 25p each (excluding treasury shares) and
39,737,907 ordinary shares of 25p each (including treasury shares).  The number
of ordinary shares of 25p held in treasury is 1,777,328.
