Purchase of own shares

Govett Asian Recovery Trust PLC announces that it has purchased for cancellation
50,000 ordinary shares at 98.5 pence per share on the 31st October 2002. This
brings the total ordinary shares purchased to date to 1,170,000. The number of
shares outstanding is now 36,152,077.
