Following the failure of the continuation vote at the Annual General Meeting on
9 August 2004, the board of Deutsche Latin American Companies Trust PLC has
received various submissions which are being considered as part of a review of
alternatives available to the company.

The board and its advisers are considering the submissions and other
alternatives available to the Company and would expect to consult with
shareholders in the near future.

In light of these circumstances, Mr Kevin Pakenham has resigned from the board
with immediate effect.
